Sad little families of children caring for each other – this is
the cruel legacy of AIDS
Imagine being 7 years old. Your mother is terribly sick and doesn't
get out of bed any more. Sometimes she doesn't even answer when
you call her. At night, you hear your big sister crying.
Neighbours pop in with food, talk in whispers and shake their heads.
Then mama dies.
Now it's just you, your baby brother and Thandi who, at 13, is
the eldest.
There is rent to pay, food to be bought and cooked, clothes to
be washed and ironed, school fees to be paid – and a huge, frightening
nothingness where security and comfort used to be.
This is the terrifying reality for thousands of vulnerable
children orphaned by AIDS.
You can't give them back their parents – but you can help
keep them safe within the familiarity of their community by making
an online donation towards our Orphans & Vulnerable Children
progrmmes.
Your gift will go towards food, clothing, school fees and counselling
– help with applying for social grants and bursaries, training
in life skills and support.
Please open your heart to innocent children struggling
to overcome the tragic legacy of AIDS. Click
