'Changing attitudes changing lives'

Click the Play button above to see our winning entry in an international video contest! (It’s only 3 minutes long, but be patient if it takes a while to load.)

Earlier this year, faith-based and community-based programmes supported by the US government were challenged to submit short videos to an international contest called Portraits of Compassion. Siyafundisa told its story by profiling one of its field workers, Odridge Dingalo, who works in the Diocese of Christ the King, Gauteng.

Siyafundisa is one of the programmes of the Anglican AIDS and Healthcare Trust, and is run in partnership with FreshMinistries and funded by PEPFAR with support from USAID. The contest was organised by the White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives to honour the work done by dedicated nonprofits with the support of the US government, and to inspire others to service.

Out of hundreds of entries, our Siyafundisa video was one of five winning videos premiered during the White House National Conference on Faith-Based and Community Initiatives in Washington, D.C., on June 26 and 27, 2008. Over 1000 people attended and watched our little video. Congratulations to all involved! The five winning videos are to be showcased on the conference website, which you can visit at www.fbci.gov
